Jane Hill

Jane Hill has been a journalist for more than 25 years. On BBC1, Jane cur-rently presents the BBC News at One, Six and Ten. On the News Channel, she presents the News at Five, and the weekly Film Review with Mark Kermode, along with outside broadcasts for major and breaking news stories. Jane also chairs Dateline London on BBC World News, and on radio presents Saturday PM on Radio 4.

She has previously presented The World Tonight on Radio 4, and the Jeremy Vine programme on Radio 2.

Special reports & additional appearances

For TV news, Jane has covered national and international stories including a week of special programmes from Washington DC in the wake of the September 11th attacks; two US Presidential elections; Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans; many weeks of coverage from Portugal following the disappearance of Madeleine McCann; the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics; the Glasgow Commonwealth Games; numerous British general elections; and the murder of the MP Jo Cox in Yorkshire. Passionate about the arts, Jane also fronts BBC News' annual coverage of the BAFTA Film Awards.


In July 2017, Jane was made an Honorary Fellow of Queen Mary, University of London.

Personal information

Personal experience has led Jane to be hugely committed to her work in the field of equality, di-versity and inclusion. She is also interested in health issues because there is a history of Parkinson's disease in her family. She lives in London with her partner, Sara, and their border collie; her spare time is spent walking the dog, going to the theatre and listening to The Archers.
