Kate McCann

Kate McCann is a broadcaster and political journalist with over a decade of experience in Westminster. She is currently political editor of Times Radio and Presenter of Sunday Morning with Adam Boulton on the station.

Kate writes a weekly column on politics and current affairs for the i Newspaper and presents the One Decision current affairs and defence podcast. She regularly hosts conferences and events in the UK and abroad.

An astute political journalist, McCann started her career working in newspapers; first at The Guardian, then CityAM, The Sun and The Telegraph, before joining Sky News in 2018 and later TalkTV.

She is renowned for her sharp analysis and headline-making interviews, where she combines curiosity and in-depth research to get to the bottom of complex political questions.

She appears regularly on high-profile current affairs shows including BBC Question Time, Westminster Hour and Politics Live.

Kate was highly commended at the Press Awards in 2017 for her Labour manifesto scoop, the first time a political manifesto had been leaked to a newspaper in its entirety. At Sky she launched and presented Campaign Unwrapped, an election podcast designed to give people an insight into how politicians campaign. At Times Radio she launched and presented a second general election podcast: The Shortcut.

Kate was chair of the Press Gallery in 2018, only the second woman to hold the title in over 200 years.

In July 2023 she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Sunderland.
